Before opening Paperphone you will need to download and install Cycling 74’s free Runtime application.

If you plan on using an external audio interface or an USB microphone, connect it before opening Runtime. Once your device is connected, make sure the device is selected in your operating system’s preferences. Open Paperphone and press the Audio Preferences button in the upper right corner. Select the input and output devices that you would like to use.
If you plan on using Paperphone during a presentation, the easiest setup is to use a USB microphone for the input and a stereo 1/8 inch cable connected to the headphone jack for the output. If you plan to use your computer’s built-in microphone make sure you use headphones or speakers separate from your computer. Paperphone will work with your computer’s built-in microphone and speakers but will result in high-pitched feedback.
Now that everything is connected you can open Paperphone. If you have Mira for iPad, you can open the app at this point and the GUI should appear on your iPad.
